Meet the Groomers!
Debby grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California. Growing up, she was often brought gifts by her cat that she'd then try to rehabilitate, with at least two major success stories! In her early twenties, she began working at the Wildlife Waystation, which housed 450+ exotic animals that she helped to care for. She also met her first groom victim, a wolf named Tramp, and then her actual groom, James, who she later married. They had their non-profit wedding at the Waystation, and raised $2800, all proceeds going to care and treatment for the animals. Debby had to leave the Waystation after an injury, but was determined to keep working with animals. In 1984, she was certified as a Companion Animal Hygienist. After floating around the grooming world, she landed in the mobile grooming business. From there, she groomed her way through LA and Beverly Hills, often being trusted with celebrity dogs. In 2015, she decided that the drought in California was taking a toll on her profession and moved herself to Bellingham, WA and couldn't be happier! Debby's favorite part of her job is dog kisses, which she's found can be few and far-between, which makes them all that much sweeter. Debby is the proud roommate/servant of Mooosh the cat.
Debby is available for dog grooms Tuesday-Saturday by appointment.
Shelby is originally from California and was raised in a home that could be easily described as a small zoo, surrounded by many kinds of animals ranging from saltwater fish, small mammals and reptiles, to cats and dogs. This experience and love for animals led to an early desire to work with them. Upon graduating high school, she decided to become a pet groomer and attended grooming school at American Grooming Academy run by Master Groomer Angela Clark and earned her
certification as an Advanced Pet Stylist. Shelby began grooming dogs in 2013 and cats in 2016. She is Dog and Cat CPR Certified as of 2018 and is working toward becoming a master groomer! Shelby has worked for both corporate stores and mom and pop shops, and found that she likes the feel of a small business more because she can connect with her clients on a more personal level. Shelby’s favorite part of her job is to pamper and make dogs and cats feel and look wonderful! She loves to offer a safe, and relaxing environment so that grooming can be a positive experience for her clients, pets and people alike. She knows the importance of this because she herself is the proud parent of a beautiful Australian Cattle Dog named Maisey and two handsome cats, named Haku and O'Malley.
Shelby is available for dog and cat grooms Sunday-Wednesday by appointment.
